Nimitt Consulting helps community-based organizations (CBOs) meet their clients’ needs in the changing healthcare environment. We work with healthcare providers, grassroots agencies and advocacy groups to expand funding for social change, disease prevention, and health promotion. By working with service providers, grassroots agencies and advocacy groups, Nimitt Consulting encourages decision-makers to invest in social change efforts to make our communities healthier and safer.

Ms. Shah lobbies on behalf of healthcare providers and industry stakeholders on a number of healthcare policy, reimbursement, and access-to-care issues. She regularly provides input to CMS staff through both written and oral testimony to improve the overall outpatient prospective payment system. Ms. Shah also works with providers and community organizations to develop strategic plans, write grants to fund new healthcare services, and conducts qualitative and quantitative research on various healthcare issues. Ms. Shah also works on initiatives and advocacy campaigns that promote social change.

One such initiative created by Nimitt Consulting is the Provider Roundtable (PRT).  This initiative brings hospital providers, those working on the front lines of healthcare delivery, together so they can more effectively advocate their ideas to the federal government.

Case Study: Because of the continuous payment methodology changes, CMS routinely invites individual hospitals, manufacturers, advocacy and lobbying organizations to provide advice on how the agency should proceed with refining the outpatient prospective payment system.  Unfortunately, most individual hospitals simply do not have the time or resources to get as involved as they should.  Therefore, Nimitt Consulting created the Provider Roundtable.

The PRT brings hospital representatives who implement and manage OPPS and APCs together in a forum to provide comments, testimony and other feedback to CMS on Medicare implementation. The PRT has successfully lobbied CMS on the regulatory rules governing the Medicare program, and will continue to work on the issue in the future.
